I am an artist and an art educator. I currently teach Pre-kindergarten through 8th grade art. I hold two degrees in art: a B.S. in Drawing and Printmaking through the University Honors Program at Portland State University and an M.F.A. in Printmaking through the University of South Dakota.
I describe myself as a treasure hunter. I love to go to second hand stores, garage sales, and antique shops to see what speaks to me in terms of history, ephemera, or the unusual. I trust my inner-self in the items I collect, organize and store. In my studio, I employ that same trust as I assemble my work. My recent work has taken a turn into construction and deconstruction as I build a narrative through antique photos of strangers with their personalities shining combined with scraps of wood, memories of time, bits of map and elements of measure. Each piece tells its own strange and wonderful story and is a treasure map used to explore the realm of imagination.
